Workplace Genesis
Work is a very interesting prospect to me. I feel I come from a very blue collar background even though my education seems to point me in a different direction. Generally work comes in various flavors, I think the majority of workplaces contribute to a functioning society in one way or another and I think that’s incredibly important, for obvious reasons. That being said, I gave my notice this past week, without having a job lined up so I almost feel excited to write about this topic. The moral of the story is, labor shouldn’t be the dream.
My Notice
I have worked for a well established manufacturing facility close to my hometown for over eight years. Now, some of those years didn’t consist of full time work but I still returned to this place primarily because they paid me well and they supported my professional development for the majority of those years. As a matter of fact, I just received a raise and I was awarded my yearly bonus. So it almost begs the question. Why am I leaving without a single thing lined up? For starters, I’m not as crazy as I sound. Due to COVID-19 I haven’t done much over the past 18 months, meaning I have a substantial amount of money saved up to not only support me, but to help me focus on other endeavors as well (read school). That’s the first reason, the second and third are as follows.
