Will VR or AR Succeed?

This may very well be one of my least biased articles I’ve ever written, simply because I’m not the biggest fan of either of these technologies. On second thought, I guess that still makes me biased doesn’t it? Either way, both VR and AR experiences have been around for a couple of years, whether we’re talking about Playstation VR or Pokemon Go for AR. There are tried and true products out right now that have a real business model going for them. The only thing is, none of these products have really revolutionized their respective technology, so it’s really hard to say that there is a clear cut winner. So let’s talk about who will win.

The Case For VR

VR has come a long way in the last couple of years, I remember seeing these headsets that weren’t just bulky but also had multiple wires coming out of them, one for power, one for audio, one for video. Talk about a nightmare waiting to happen when you’re swatting at your enemies with a lightsaber inside VR. Those days are mostly over, while there are still units that rely on a base station, the technology isn’t nearly as cumbersome as it was before. All that said, the problem with VR is that it requires a lot of extra setup, as I mentioned you have the headset, usually some special controllers or at the very least a normal controller. All of these things may sound small but as a supposed “adult” I know that my free time…
