Why You Shouldn’t Upgrade Your Phone
I’ve been wanting to upgrade my phone for at least a year now, while my phone still works perfectly fine, I can’t help but be intrigued by the new and shinier versions that are popping up across the entire industry with bigger screens, better cameras, faster processors. It all feels overwhelming at times, but still I resist. In this article I want to try and convince you why you shouldn’t upgrade your phone, at least not yet.
Something Better Is Coming
I’m not gonna lie, this mental shift can almost apply to any piece of technology, whether we’re talking about phones or cars, the longer you wait to upgrade the better your upgrade will actually be. It’s really just the fact of science and innovation. Think about if you bought a Blackberry back in their prime days as the best pocketable PDA, if you didn’t upgrade until the latest iPhone 13 this year, you’ll have such a better experience whether we’re talking about actual speed and performance or just more developed features. The longer you wait in order to upgrade your gadgets the more likely you’ll actually get a worthwhile experience. If you upgraded each and every year the upgrades will feel so small that they likely won’t justify the huge price tag that goes along with it. Try holding out for an extra year and you may be surprised by how much better technology improves.

Basically what I mean by this is that your phone is actually improving either every month or every year at least simply by getting new software updates. Take my personal preference for example. The Pixel 3a launched with Android 9 way back in 2019, eventually being updated to Android 10, Android 11 and soon it will be updated again to Android 12. That’s 3 years worth of feature updates that not only refresh and improve upon the UI, add both background and user facing features and my personal favorite thing about these updates is that they often times improve the performance and battery life of your machine. So many people today can go buy a phone and over the course of a few years their phone will actually get better and offer the user more…
