So, this article really only pertains to the Northern states (or Canada). While I would certainly love for you living in Florida to continue reading, I won’t force you too. As for you northerners, listen up! A block heater in incredibly basic terms is a little device that you plug into your electrical outlet that keeps your car’s engine warm so that when you go to start it up, it’s almost at perfect operating temperature. Now let’s dive into why you should heavily consider installing and using a block heater this winter!
Fuel Savings
Believe it or not, your car is a complex piece of machinery, with very tight tolerances at almost every corner. From the size of your pistons to the size of your tires, if something is out of spec, you’re likely going to suffer because of it! Same thing applies to the operating temperature of your engine, basically your engine needs to be pretty warm (That’s key word for HOT to anyone with fingerprints that they prefer to keep) in order to operate optimally.
