Why Video Game Consoles Will Die

Video game consoles are some of the coolest devices ever to exist. Am I biased towards that opinion? Absolutely. That being said I do have very fond memories of playing some classic systems like the Nintendo 64, the PlayStation 1 or even Gameboy Color. All these consoles had awesome games and it was at a time just before the the big debate over “who had the most powerful console” began. Moral of the story, these were fun systems that contributed to some of my all time favorite gaming memories. However, even though these consoles created awesome memories over the last few decades, I genuinely believe that these consoles are going to die pretty soon, here is why!

The Cloud

It’s already incredibly easy to hop onto multiple different cloud streaming platforms that offer better performance without any of the hassles of getting new hardware. Whether I want to play Halo Infinite on Xbox Game Pass or Iron Harvest on Nvidia Geforce Now, the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to cloud gaming. All that is required to play these games at high fidelity settings is a compatible system (Often times just a web browser will do) and then a solid internet connection (As connections have only been improving over the last couple of years) and then you’re basically gaming with some of the best graphical performance available.
