Why the United States Needs Smaller Vehicles to Reduce Traffic and Increase Productivity

The United States has a car culture. We love our big, gas-guzzling SUVs and trucks. But these vehicles are not only bad for the environment, they’re also bad for traffic and productivity.

Traffic

Large vehicles take up more space on the road, which leads to congestion. This congestion can make it difficult to get around, which can waste time and fuel. In fact, a study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute found that large vehicles account for a disproportionate share of traffic congestion.

Productivity

Traffic congestion also has a negative impact on productivity. When people are stuck in traffic, they’re not working or being productive. This can cost businesses money and can lead to lost productivity for individual workers.

Smaller vehicles

Smaller vehicles take up less space on the road, which can help to reduce congestion. They also use less fuel, which is better for the environment. And because they’re smaller, they’re easier to park, which can save time and frustration.
