Why Star Wars Shows Slap So Hard

In case you’ve been living under a rock for a while now, you’ll known that Disney+ has been completely crushing the streaming game when it comes to original content. Sure, we have Netflix displaying some killer shows like Arcane or Cobra Kai, and even HBO Max is swinging for the fences with their DC shows like Doom Patrol and Peacemaker. All that said Disney+ is now only offering crazy Marvel shows, crazy Star Wars shows but they also have Pixar and Disney animation just there to make their lineup nearly impeccable. I’ll slow down now. With the success of The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett, let’s talk about why exactly Star Wars works so well in the TV show format versus the movies.

Time

I’m not sure if any of you eagle eyes fans out there had taken notice or not but Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith spans more or less around 5 months according to canon timelines revealed in books and comics. That means George and friends thought they could cram a 5-month time period into a 2-hour movie. It’s definitely doable, but it most certainly adds an odd dynamic to the storytelling. I think this is part of the criticism with the prequel trilogy, not only do we get Hayden replacing Jake (Thankfully) but we also see hippy Obi-Wan turn into lumbersexual Obi-Wan.
