Why Software Is Outpacing Hardware

I still remember being broke in high school and watching all these new technological innovations go on with all sorts of hardware. Faster CPU’s more capable GPU’s, RAM the size of my computers hard drive. It was really cool to read up on all these things with the dream of one day upgrading to these awesome levels of hardware. But at some point over the last few years hardware has drastically taken the back seat when it came to consumer electronics. Instead of awaiting the latest and greatest hardware, we’re all highly anticipating the next version of our favorite software! Let’s talk about why that is!

Easily Accessible

The fact is, not everyone can afford the latest and greatest tech gadget each and every year. They can however, upgrade to the latest software experience. Whether we’re talking about actual operating system upgrades or just a basic application being updated by the developer. All these updates add up to significant milestones. Why would I spend my hard earned money on improving my hardware when I could instead wait a month and get a nearly identical experience thanks to breakthroughs in the software that drives my device! I will play devil’s advocate here and say that software isn’t some sort of magic bullet for all our problems, there will clearly be limitations set on older hardware.
