Why Micro-Mobility Is The Future

Ever since COVID-19 made its presence known across the United States, micro-mobility exploded in terms of usage. People went from taking public transit and automobiles to hopping on a bicycle or a scooter. While there are clear advantages to a public transit centered urban center, I think Micro-Mobility will serve to improve the lives of billions of believe as it continues to become the future of transportation! Here’s why I believe Micro-Mobility (Bikes, Scooters, Boards) is without a doubt, the future of transportation!

The Cost

I can tell you firsthand as a car enthusiast, owning and operating an automobile is incredibly expensive. Not only is the initial cost incredibly high but paying for fuel, routine maintenance and of course the obligatory insurance policy can add up incredibly quickly! Now compare that to a micro-mobility option and not only are you getting rid of the majority of the factors, but the entry cost is a fraction as is the refueling! As more and more of the world begins to improve their quality of life over the coming years it will be evident that the use of micro-mobility will lead to people not only having the freedom often associated with the use of a car, but it will also add a sense of financial freedom to those that are no longer burdened by all the expenses associated to the automobile as well!

The Efficiency

While we often times associate efficiency with cost I do think there are other areas that should be considered when you start to consider the efficiency of anything. That being said, what I’m about to mention also comes with a price tag as well. The fact that micro-mobility hardly requires any maintenance outside of perhaps keeping your tires inflated (Though of course airless tires could change that one day) means that those who opt for micro-mobility-based transportation will spend less of their time maintaining their modes of transportation and more time enjoying life. Whether you want to spend more time with your family or friends or just want to watch more Netflix, there is something nice about having less upkeep. Pair this with the fact that you likely won’t have to head over to your local gas station just to get topped up since the overwhelming majority of micro-mobility options are based on electrification (And human power of course)…
