Why I Prefer Leather Goods
Leather products have gotten a bit of a bad rap these days. While there is no denying that leather in its current form involves the death and often times the pain of living creatures and it requires massive amounts of natural resources in order to grow these animals, leather still has a place in my eco-friendly heart! So let me tell you a little bit of why I personally prefer leather, even with how much I love the planet!
Durability
Seriously, leather can often times out last a lot of our synthetic alternatives. Petroleum based materials such as polyester or acrylic certainly have a durable presence as well, but they are only durable in an ideal world. If you’re wearing a polyester t shirt every day, it may show small signs of wear but generally it would remain very usable far into the future. However, once that t-shirt gets caught on something, it’s going to rip almost instantly. Leather on the other hand is very different. Not only can leather take the average wear and tear of everyday life but when conditions start to border on the extreme leather will very likely come out just fine, and as a matter of fact it may actually come out even better than before!
