Why I Prefer eBooks In 2021
To start, I don’t actually own a Kindle, that was clickbait. I do however have an Android phone (Pixel 3a) that I use religiously to read eBooks. Long gone are my days of loving physical media (Read: Books, CDs, DVDs, Video Game Cartridges), it’s digital or bust baby! Here’s why!
Portability
Books come in all shapes and sizes, but the fact is, most of them can’t fit in your pocket, and it becomes increasingly annoying to carry around two or more at the same time. That’s where eBooks come in, while I generally don’t have my entire library downloaded on my device simply for the sake of keeping things organized, I do however have the ability to carry around a 600 page tome in my pocket without breaking a sweat. For those of us that want to squeeze in a quick reading session from time to time, this is the best way to do it.
Pricing
Books are interesting in the way that they can be thousands of years old, yet still cost a pretty penny. It’s weird thinking about the mark up on some books, the bible especially, but many contemporary books as well. I won’t say that eBooks have the most competitive pricing, but thanks to constant discounts and sales, eBooks are probably on average, cheaper than a brand new physical version.
