I’ll be the first too admit, I used to take part in Black Friday shopping sprees all the time, ironically that was when I had no real money and I was living off of an allowance that was probably less than 1% of my current salary. However, now that I’m supposedly an adult at the ripe old age of 27 I do not participate in Black Friday anymore, here’s why.

Minimalism

I’m still confused by my old passion to own everything because now I seek to own as few things as possible. Black Friday is probably the most anti-minimalist event known to modern man. It’s the perfect opportunity to go out and buy a lot of things that you probably don’t really want or need simply for the fact that they theoretically have a reduced price. While I’m aware that everyone is not a minimalist I think everyone could use a small reduction in the amount of things they buy every year. Whether that’s by acknowledging the things you value the most such as time with loved ones or just not stressing about your finances by avoiding financing options for everything you want to buy. More of the story is Black Friday is all about acquisition of stuff and I’m at a point where I find liquidation a lot more meaningful.

Time

I’m not here to sell you on the idea that you should be spending your whole day with your loved ones on…

The elements compose a magnum opus. My modus operandi is amalgam.
