Why I Chose To Get The Booster Shot

To me it’s really a no brainer that I got the COVID-19 vaccine and the following booster shot, however, many don’t think the same way, so hear me out.

BECAUSE SCIENCE

Of course I would love for the vaccine to work 100% of the time for all eternity with no side effects, but that’s just not realistic. There is a lot of trial and error when it comes to producing this type of medicine and sometimes side effects can come along with it. This may not be a popular opinion but I subscribe to the train of thought that says that my decision to get the vaccine contributes to science. Perhaps my single data point in that vast stream of information people are gathering is used to further prove the effectiveness, or perhaps to disprove it. Either way you flip that coin, my choice is now directly impacting the path society takes when it attempts to combat disease through advanced medicine. That’s something I’d be more than happy to gamble with!

I tested positive for COVID-19 early in 2021 and let me tell you, it was not pleasant! While it wasn’t quite the worst experience of my life, it wasn’t an enjoyable one even though I got nearly 3 weeks off of work thanks to it.
