Why High Refresh Rates Are Important
Going back just a little over a decade and the hot topic of screens at the time was strictly resolution, we were finally getting into true HD content, gone were the days of living with just 720P, we were finally looking at 1080P images. For someone like me who barely had a TV bigger that 20", this hardly mattered. Though I do remember that initial jump from SD to HD when I started gaming on my PS3 all those years ago. I won’t let nostalgia take over this whole article though so I digress. Here we are in 2021, and the hottest topics when it comes to all possible screens is certainly refresh rates. So let’s talk about why high refresh rates are so important going forward!
Speed
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to talk about response times or latency or refresh rates in itself so I decided to simply call this section “speed”. The fact is, the higher the refresh rates you have on a screen, touch or not, the higher the speed of your interactions will be. Whether we’re talking about the speed the screen will change to the most accurate image (FPS counters unite) or how long it takes for the item that you clicked to open up or respond to your touch or click, refresh rate plays a serious role in how these systems work. Now of course processing power also plays a key role, but if you’re using a device that has a high refresh rate display it’s very unlikely that…
