Why Habits Are More Important Than Goals
Over the last few years, I’ve spent a considerable amount of my time reading and watching self-improvement content on and off the internet. Whether you want to talk about Charles Duhigg’s The Power of Habit or Nathaniel Drew’s YouTube channel, there is a lot of amazing content out there that can really change your life. I know there seems to be a growing distaste towards self-improvement content but I think it’s important that these types of topics remain relevant, even if they aren’t as popular as they were just a few years ago. One of the common themes about self-improvement is the fact that habits are far more important than goals, so here is why I believe that to be an absolute truth!
Tangible
Goals are great to place into the future, but in terms of the here and now they don’t really give you much to work with. What am I more likely to do, lose 10 pounds through the magic of positive manifestation or just go for a quick 3-mile bike ride? Assuming you’re not some sort of manifest master, you’ll go for the bike ride. Don’t get me wrong, it sucks that you can’t see the results of that 3 miles bike ride immediately, but it certainly helps that you can feel good about doing it right away versus, well whatever the fuck you feel like after “manifesting”.
