Why F1 Should have Gone To E15 Fuel In 2022

In 2022 the rules and regulations for Formula 1 will see a major revamp. From changes to aerodynamics, wheel and tire packages, increased safety standards and of course the shift towards more sustainable fuels by using E10. While this is an incredibly important step for Formula 1 to take on their path towards fully sustainable fuels I think there could have been more drastic changes made had the FIA decided to shift development to E15 based fuels instead. Here’s why.

Also Available

While it’s true that E10 is one of the most common fuels around the world that is safe to use on any modern car, it’s also true that E15 is also incredibly common and easily available. There shouldn’t be any major cost differences when it comes to acquiring E15 fuel versus E10, meaning there can’t be any monetary incident not to make the shift towards E15.

Cleaner Burning

The EPA has completed several studies that show that use of E15 in standard internal combustion engine designs leads towards not only cleaner exhaust emissions but also towards reduced engine wear.
