Why College Doesn’t Need To Be Free
I graduated from my college all the way back in 2016 with about $20k worth of debt, all of which was paid off by the end of 2017. Was it a lot of money? Of course it was! Was it worth it? Absolutely! Not only are job prospects a lot easier to come by with a college degree but I genuinely feel a bit more satisfied in life. While college is expensive today I’m not part of the legions of people that believe that college should be free. At least, not in the way most people associate with “free”. So that being said, let me tell you why.

Obtaining a college degree is not only valuable to the people that actually go out of the way to obtain it, but it’s also quite valuable for society around them. Think about the prospect of education, these institutions are meant to prepare individuals for the ever changing professional landscape. They learn key concepts in regards to communication and other soft skills. Along with that some fields become specialized with very technical knowledge that all these students are learning. Now let’s imagine a world where none of that exist, you’re probably going to have a very slow society in regards to development. We’re talking about slower technological evolution and a culture that isn’t capable of appreciating all the things that life has to offer.
