Why Backwards Compatibility Gaming Is So Important

With rumors heating up in regards to either PlayStation 5 obtaining backwards compatibility or at the very least an updated PlayStation Now offering a far larger library of older games, I think it’s time we dive back into the age old question. Why would I buy a new console, to play old games?! Here’s why!

More Is Better

While I’m certainly a minimalist when it comes to physical possessions, I do love having a huge digital library! Whether we’re talking a bout eBooks, movies or video games, I love having them at the tip of my fingers to either download or start playing. This is why backwards compatibility is so important for a new console, not only does it allow people to continue to play the games that they know and love from the previous generation but it allows people that didn’t get a chance to try the previous systems to try all of the older titles. The more the merrier!

It’s Literally History

Thinking back at my time playing video games, there are quite literally dozens of different experiences that I will simply never be able to recreate or relive. This is partially because of the shift happening in the video game industry where things are progressively becoming more event driven but also because there is just no practical way to play certain games…
