Why A Universal Flu Vaccine Should Be A Top Priority
COVID-19 without a doubt has impacted society on a level that no one really believed to be possible in the 21st century. Unless you were some sort of virologist of course. That being said, one good thing to come out of this ongoing pandemic is the rapid development of MRNA vaccines, commonly referred to as Messenger RNA vaccines. While I’m not going to get into too much scientific detail in this article, primarily because I don’t understand any of that, I will talk about the value proposition for a universal flu vaccine as we continue to deal with COVID-19 two years after its first transmission event.
Productivity
It’s clear that COVID-19 has created major supply chain issues across the world, from getting our hands on the latest tech gadgets to even getting a brand-new vehicle, times have been rough if you’re a producer and the yearly flu likely causes major issues in unison with COVID-19. By developing a universal flu vaccine that not only protects against various different forms of the flu but also protects again the flu for an extended period of time we could start to ramp the economy back up by reducing the amount of time that millions of people end up sick.
