With large companies such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon and Apple now getting a lot of attention from regulators across the globe the question has to be asked. Who will be the next big tech giant be? Here are my mild predictions that I feel ok having fail.

Airbnb

Airbnb has certainly had a rocky time thanks to the recent pandemic, whether we’re talking about the fact that people couldn’t even travel for a limited amount of time or the fact that there were people hosting literal parties inside Airbnb’s marketed as “Super Spreader Parties”, yeah that’s a rough patch in your history for sure. The reason I put Airbnb on this list is because of their ability to seemlessly integrate with the future of Web3 and potentially even the Metaverse. While that sounds strange considering Airbnb is focused on actual physical real estate instead of virtual, it’s not hard to imagine how Airbnb could gamify their locations, collecting digital goodies exclusive to each location or perhaps to each region. I won’t dive into too much of this because ultimately no matter how detailed I get, they would likely move in different directions. Regardless, with the scalability of Airbnb and the shift towards remote work, Web3 and the Metaverse it really just seems like a no brainer that Airbnb will not only survive, but thrive well into the future.

Epic Games

Epic Games really came out of left field in regards to the success of Fortnite. I never imagined the developers behind Gears of war and Infinity Blade would grow to become one of the biggest powerhouses in the video game industry. Let’s not forget that Fortnite Battle Royale launched as more or less an incomplete version of the actual game Epic Games had set out to make. Now they not only have one of the most popular video games in human history under their belt but they are one of the leaders in regards to the Metaverse, mixing in cosmetics and all sorts of other purchasable goods to their games and platforms it’s clear that Epic Games known what they’re doing. I believe they have a lot of room to grow but they’re very clearly trending into the right direction, if they can continue to capitalize on their franchise connections I think we’ll continue to see every 12 year old playing Fortnite for the foreseeable future!
