Top 3 Reasons I Prefer A Manual Transmission Vehicle
The tried and true 3 pedal system in automobiles. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of heel-toe downshifting perfectly as you brake into a corner. Or the perfectly notched feel of the gear selector in the traditional H-Pattern. It’s all a very touch and feel heavy experience that’s quite stimulating. But in 2021 with automatic transmissions morphing into full blown self-driving cars, is there any reason to drive a manual transmission? I won’t say that this list is entirely practical but it’s certainly true, so let’s take a look as to why I prefer a manual transmission vehicle as we enter in 2022.
It’s Just Fun
I have to start here because this is ultimately one of the most purest ways of driving a car. There’s really no argument to be made on this front. As I mentioned in my introduction, the movement of your feet and hands, the feel of the cars subtle vibrations, the way your ears open up to hear the roar of your internal combustion engine. It’s all very surreal, which makes it so much more fun to drive than a normal automatic transmission car. Think of manual transmissions like a video game while automatics are a feature film. Both can tell a story with a beginning, middle and end. But only one requires your attention and careful decision making.
