It’s lights out and away we go into the Formula 1 2024 season! It sure has been a long time since the last race took place in Abu Dhabi, but here we are with slightly revised cars, similiar tracks, similiar faces and some slightly revised rules and regulations. So let’s talk about how the first weekend went (even though it was actually Thursday, Friday, Saturday)!

Redbull & Adrian Newey Domination

It’s basically impossible at this point to see anyone outside of the Redbull team running away with the championship. This certainly highlights the fact that Max Verstappen is in another league with the ground effect regulations but it also highlights that Sergio Perez is also keen to learn from the last few years and focus on his own consistency across the season. This comes with one big “but”, which is the fact that Adrian Newey’s ground effect cars are clearly doing something that other cars on the grid are not. So unless Mercedes, McLaren or Ferrari can start to figure out what Redbull magic they’re missing I can only predict that Redbull and friends will runaway in this competition quite soon.
