Top 3 Highlights From The 2023 Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix
As we head into Max Verstappen’s home circuit the question remains whether or not anyone can bring the challenge to him as he attempts to match Sebastian Vettel’s record of consecutive race wins. The answer still seems to be “no”. So let’s go over one of the craziest races in recent history and talk about the highlights!
Wet Weather Running
While the race started with dry slick tires things took quite the turn before the first lap could even be completed! With a downpour coming down it tested the team strategist to decide whether or not to make the switch to intermediates. While many drivers did make the switch quite quickly others were left on the slicks in hopes of toughing out the wet conditions. With so many different strategies occuring the field was quite mixed and many drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were left far out of position, essentially ruining their race. This was only the start to the race by the way!
Red Flag Conditions
Around the 62nd lap of the race a red flag was thrown as a new storm system made its way above of the track which was far more torrential than the early wet weather running that teams had to face. Multiple drivers hydroplaning at the end of the main straight made it clear that this was not a good…
