As we head to the Austrian Grand Prix dubbed the Redbull Ring I can’t help but feel that this year’s world championship is all but taken care of at this point. Max will most certainly win the driver’s championship and while the constructor’s could potentially go to Mercedes or Aston Martin, it seems like quite a difficult battle considering the current positions. Before I get a little too deep in a highlight article, let’s go over my top 3 highlights from the 2023 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix!

Penalties Galore

No seriously, there were over 1200 moments where drivers were supposedly going beyond the track limits. As a matter of fact, Zhou Guanyu was the only driver not to even getting a warning for track limits. Everyone else at the very least exceeded track limits once. Many of these offenders were also dealt multiple time penalties. Estaban Ocon collected major warnings similiar to his issues earlier in the year while the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Nick De Vries were also dealt penalties. Some of these even came after the closing stages of the race. The stewards issued a statement suggesting that the FIA and the circuit figure out a way to mitigate these issues in the future as it’s nearly impossible to investigate 1200 different racing moments in the span of normal F1 race.
