The Problem With Smartphone Cases
I want to start out by saying that I do indeed have a phone case, as a matter of fact, as much as it pains me to admit it, I’ve cracked the screen on my phone about 3 times. All because I chose not to use a case. I’ll also add that my phone is the literal definition of a weak screen (Sorry, Pixel 3a, but it’s true). All my personal comments aside, there is a very major issue with phone cases these days and that’s why I decided to write this article. I’m sure there will be a lot of differing opinions on this so I look forward to hearing your thoughts, so let’s get started.
Poor Design
The fact that smartphone cases are not only being marketed too us heavily through the aftermarket scene with all sorts of trademarked IPs painted onto these cases or fluffy design features like kickstands or wallets shows that we’re all suckers for a cheap product. On top of the heavy marketing pushed on us, more and more phone manufacturers are including phone cases with their actual brand new phone, at first this seems like a freebie or a nice gesture, however we all have to realize one thing that’s going on. These phones are no longer designed to be durable. Now, I will give a bit of a mention to glass companies like Gorilla for producing tougher and more resistance glass screens but it’s simply not enough for today’s flagship devices.
