During my time in college I decided to pick up a book called “The Power of Habits” By Charles Duhigg, here I am 5 years later and I still believe this book to be one of the most defining moments of my life. Not only did I learn a lot from a scientific perspective but it also made me appreciate the behavioral sciences enough to study them in a formal way after my Bachelor’s degree. After reading that book I was motivated to start developing habits and so in this article I want to talk to all of you about the 3 most pivotal habits I’ve developed since reading this book and why they’re so important!

Exercise

Growing up I was fairly active, whether that was running around outside or actually playing sports, I enjoyed breaking a sweat from time to time. Sure I had my year or two where I transformed into a certified potato but I was pretty good about returning to some level of active lifestyle. Then the college years really started to take its toll on me, no longer was breaking a sweat once a week good enough to maintain any sort of healthy lifestyle. I made the commitment to lose weight before one of my European adventures and I was able to knock off an entire 40lbs simply from walking around my neighbor with a backpack. Since then I’ve been working out every day for the past 3 years. Now when I say every day, I don’t mean I’ve never missed a work out…
