See You Later, Space Cowboy

I’m a sucker for a great location. I love traveling and I love being comfortable in my room, all these spaces serve a different purpose and provide me with a sense of joy in their own ways. Space is such an interesting topic to write about because really it’s posing several questions in regards to our very existence. I could get into some good ole “Human Instrumentality” for all of you Neon Genesis fans out there but I’m not convinced that’s the direction we should go in. Instead, I want to talk about a few key spaces that have really changed the way I view life after all these years.

College

I attended college about two hours away from my hometown. I’ll openly admit, my very first day I wasn’t really sure about my decision to attend college, in layman’s terms, I was scared to be off on my own. After 24 hours I came to the realization that this was not only the space that I needed but the space that I wanted to be in. I attended classes, labs, conferences. I made numerous friends and connected with professors that still have a lasting impact on my life 5 years after graduation. To me, the space my college campus created fostered not only my individual ability but also my ability to work with others, especially with people that I didn’t know for years prior.
