PS1, PS2 & PSP Trophies Could Be Happening

With the announcement of the slightly confusing PlayStation Plus revamp, it was also announced that several PS1, PS2 and PSP games would be coming to the now defunct PlayStation Now service, some with new features and improved performance. This was immediately looked over as a simple save mechanism that would help a new generation that is used to autosave adapt to games that simply demanded that you play for hours before you reached the safe point. Cool, but not gaming changing. However, shortly after this announcement Bend Studio announced that their PS1 game and cult classic Syphon Filter would not only come with trophies but also a platinum one to boot. Let me explain why this is a big deal.

Trophy Hunters

While I understand that people shouldn’t be buying games just to show off their trophy collection, I can’t help but admit that trophies and the Xbox equivalent (achievements) are a big deal to nearly every gaming platform out there. What’s cool about trophies is the fact that they allow individuals to carry a certain presence around with them regardless of what game they’re currently playing. Seeing that certain players have finished a game or received a certain trophy is pretty cool.
