My Top 3 Movie Franchises
Since no one asked and I’ve spent the better part of the last 48 hours watching video essays on some of my favorite film franchises I thought I’d share with all of you my top 3! So let’s check out my list!
Blade Runner
Blade Runner is such an interesting franchise, not only has it failed once, not twice but three times if we’re counting the mediocre anime Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Yet with all the failures and shortcomings Blade Runner is already getting a fast tracked TV show headed to Amazon Prime Video supposedly set in the year 2099, approximately 50 years after Blade Runner: 2049. As an external viewer of the franchise I genuinely can’t think of any real financial reason someone would want to keep trying to make this franchise successful. But the thing is, while the first two movies bombed at the box office, likely due to their heavy nature and long run time, critics absolutely love this series! On top of that, the Blade Runner franchise has such a rich and vivid world that is just begging to be explored in additional material, whether that’s books, comics or just more movies and TV shows. There are entire planets and time periods that have never been touched within this world, you know what, we’ve barely even left the state of California inside of these films so the possibilities are truely endless!
