While electric cars are quickly starting to pick up steam here in the United States, the fact is the majority of us are still running around with tried and true gasoline. That being said, just because you’re still using a gasoline powered car doesn’t mean that you’re not doing your part to save the planet because in all reality, the longer we keep our things, the less emissions we end up outputting, so as long as you aren’t buying a new internal combustion engine car again, you’re still probably helping the environment by reducing the need for more consumption. That being said, let’s talk about a few ways you can cut down on your fuel cost and maybe save the environment a little bit as well.

Regular Maintenance

While it’s important to get your regular scheduled oil change, that’s not where I’m going to end this conversation. Maintenance should include everything that contributes to the longevity of your car. So in this case I’m talking about oil changes, checking air pressure in your tires, cleaning the inside and outside of your car, changing your brakes and other routine items like air filter replacement. Now none of these alone are going to save you a whole lot of money when it comes to gas but even if each item offers you an average of 1% improvement in MPG, that’s a very good return on investment! So start taking care of your car today…
