How To Get Over Imposter Syndrome
I’m currently enrolled in a doctoral program that really had me questioning whether or not I had what it takes to one day be called “Dr. Romero”. After a long internal fight with myself I now know that, while I’m far from perfect, I’ll continue to keep pushing myself even when I have doubts, so here’s how I got over my imposter syndrome, or at least most of it.
They Think The Same thing
I think this is probably the most important thing that most people dealing with imposter syndrome need to realize. Everyone else feels the exact same way you do. Even the most confident of colleagues have worried whether or not they were good enough. I don’t care if you’re Barack Obama or Elon Musk, you’ve very likely doubted yourself at one point or another, I would be willing to bet that it’s natural to feel that way sometimes. I just don’t think it’s healthy to go through life expecting everything to work out perfectly. That might be another topic in itself but, when you start to challenge yourself you’ll surely have push back, whether that’s from you, your peers or the universe in general, just know that it’s completely normal.
