How To Balance Your Drive For Money vs Time
Very often while I’m shooting the shit with my co-workers in the office I bring up the very important balance between making more money and having more free time. Some people will seek big fancy promotions in hopes of having more money, I instead opt towards working as few hours as possible in hopes of enjoying my mediocre income a bit more freely. I wanted to share with all of you a few thought processes I like to go through whenever I’m wondering how to take advantage of this effectively. I will add that everyone will be a little different but I like to assume that most people aren’t super interested in money as much as they are interested in free time instead. So let’s take a look at money v time.
The Hourly Rate
Now this is primarily geared towards you salary folk, though some outlier parts of this discussion can be applied to those that earn an hourly wage as well. Looking at my salary, I’m well aware that my income is fixed until I get some sort of permanent raise or a bonus. That’s just clear cut information, what isn’t clear is how many hours of work I’ll have to contribute in order to obtain that salary.
