How Robotic Lawn Mowers Could Change The World
While the image above isn’t exactly what I meant by robot lawn mowers, I do think it captures an interesting idea. What if one day, instead of using human labor to cut out our lawns, we could use R2-D2!? Now before you go off and tell me I’m dumb, just remember that this is already incredibly feasible. With various robot lawn mowers taking the form factor popularized by Roomba to the outdoors, it’s only a matter of time before these things start to grow in popularity. I won’t go over all the nitty gritty details when it comes to robot lawn mowers in this article, instead I want to focus on a few key areas that I believe will make robot lawn mowers a true force for change in the world around us!
Time
The biggest selling point of autonomous robotic lawn mowers is the fact that they can operate themselves. This is turn frees up the typical human from having to manually operate machinery like lawn mowers in order to mow the lawn themselves. This may not sound like a big deal at first glance but when you start to factor in that according to NASA in 2015 there is over 63,000 miles of lawn in the United States. Considering that was seven years ago it’s likely that there is even more lawn now than there was back then. Now instead of continuing to use human labor to mow these large swaths of land across our communities we can now shift the work…
