How Increasing Oil Prices Could Speed Up Electrification
I want to point out the injustices that are implied by this train of thought before I proceed any further. For starters the blatant war crimes that Putin has committed by invading Ukraine is nothing short of inhumane and vile. In addition to that, there is a certain level of privilege that people would need if they even wanted to consider buying into an electric mode of transportation. Whether that be proper charging infrastructure (Shared or privately owned) or just the simple monetary funds, put simply, not everyone can just drop the standard of gasoline engines and shift towards an electric vehicle without a lot of savings built up prior. That being said, I want to talk about how increased oil prices could speed up the worlds shift towards electric transportation.
Efficiency
What most people don’t realize is that electric vehicles are inherently a lot more efficient, which makes a lot of sense when you start to think about it. Think about all the moving parts inside of an internal combustion engine. The pistons, the shafts, the clutch, the gearbox, the valves, the belt system. Consider every moving part in your vehicle outside of the wheels a piece of the inefficiency puzzle, as engines become more complex and have more components to move the more likely they are to lost a certain level of inefficiency.
