How I Maintain Inbox Zero

For those that don’t know, inbox zero is the act of getting your primary inbox to have zero emails, generally archived and trashed emails are acceptable depending on who you ask but you should be able to open up your email client and see no emails. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that you remain productive by completing easy to accomplish task in a timely manner while also organizing longer form task in a more substantial way than just letting things pile up inside of your inbox. So all of that said, I want to go out how I maintain inbox zero on all three of my email clients between, personal, school and the workplace.

Folders

This approach is important both inside of the email client but also outside of it. Depending on how many emails you receive on a daily basis you should have multiple folders to organize certain emails that may pertain to you in the short and long term future. At work, I keep things organized by departments and for school I have general campus announcements in one folder and program specific emails in another. All in an effort to keep things organized within the email client. Outside of your email application you should also have a well structured document system, either locally or my personal preference, within the cloud. I like Google Drive because it allows me to access my important documents…
