How Foldable Displays Could Save Us Money In The Long Run

Foldable phones are the hottest trend as of right now. Knowing the tech industry this could end up being a fad in six months, but at the same time it could also become the golden standard for portable devices. I’m no psychic so I have no idea which way this will go but I have a feeling that the foldable scene is just starting so I’m excited to see how far things go in the next couple of years.

All that said, I think even at this very moment in time foldable phones are entering us into a single device landscape that could very well save us a lot of money in the long run. Let’s run a couple of oversimplified numbers real quick.

Smartphone: $350

Tablet: $350

Laptop: $500

TV: $500

Like I said these are oversimplified numbers and rather low numbers even for me. While I don’t have a tablet I do have a laptop that launched at double the cost I put in the list above. So keep in mind this is all just a generalization of the average consumer trends. Let’s do some quick math and see that on average the typical user has around $1700 worth of gadgets used throughout the day.

We now have folding phones that enter into the market at $1800 that can more or less replace 3 of these 4 gadgets. While I think a lot…
