How Computer Tech Could Save The Auto Industry
The auto industry is an incredibly complex and interesting one, not only has it been around for 100 years but it is constantly having to evolve to meet both consumer demand but also regulatory constraints. Thinking about technologies like All Wheel Drive and automatic transmissions it’s easy to see how far car technology has come over its lifetime. That being said, the auto industry has also faced many obstacles with emissions standards, the potential demise of the internal combustion engine and now the regulatory mess of autonomous vehicles. This is why I wanted to talk about how computer technology could potentially save the auto industry from imploding in on itself, so let’s check it out!
All The Processing Power
Everything in a car is managed by computers, whether it’s simple calculations displayed through your odometer or the complex arithmetic that your engine control unit needs to complete in order to determine how much throttle and fuel will be needed in order to give the driver the expected power he is asking for. Mix in the head unit that houses our digital controls and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay it’s easy to see how integrated computers are into our vehicles in 2022. I thoroughly believe that over the next couple of years (Likely once this chip shortage starts to plateau) we’ll start to see big pushes to…
