Did Lewis Hamilton Get Robbed Of His 8th World Title?

Yes, yes, he did.

Full disclaimer: I was cheering on Lewis on his road to what should have been his 8th title victory so I’m clearly biased.

The Spectacle Of TV

I admittedly am one of the American bandwagon fans that came on board thanks to the Netflix series Drive to Survive, so in the grand scheme of things, I may actually be part of the problem here. That being said, with my limited viewing time I know how the safety car process typically works and I know that ending under a safety car is a real possibility throughout the season. As a matter of fact, this season itself had a race end after just two safety car laps thanks to heavy rainfall. So, to toss out the rulebook at the end of a close season simply to have sparks fly as a spectacle really diminishes the feel of the sport to the equivalent of the WWE.

Lewis & Max

While Max won his first title fight at this race, I still feel bad for him because this victory will forever be blanketed in controversy, while he’ll certainly take the trophy, he would have certainly preferred to win in a clearer way. As for Lewis, I can’t imagine sinking your teeth into all the sweat, blood and oil towards the end of the season, seeing victory sitting in his lap only for the race director to throw…
