Are We All Here For Money?
I’ll be very honest with you, if I wasn’t making a couple bucks a month from Medium. I would not be writing here, end of story. So that has me asking the question, are we all trying to get an extra paycheck out of this? If that’s the case, then who is reading these articles and therefore creating revenue for the creators? I certainly don’t have the answers, but I can certainly talk about it.
The Legends
Now of course we have big names using Medium as a more winded version of Twitter, which is great because with those big flashy names, they bring their audience, therefore some of them are likely to spread their wings and read some other content. So I guess we can account for 5% from those people right?
The Prey
If you’ve got a flashy title that pops up in front of me, I’ll very likely click it and read, marketing at its finest! So when you have a room full of creators, and one creator makes an article about how to earn more money as a creator, I guess we’re all very likely to read that now aren’t we! But is that even remotely sustainable? Let’s throw a whopping 50% of people in this one since that makes sense to me.
