6 Tips On How To Build Habits Easily
- Study The Benefits
This almost seems as if I’m asking you to read more of my articles. Which if that’s what you’d like to do. Then by all means have at it. But one thing that I’ve noticed about building habits over the last couple years is that if I can learn about the benefits of developing these habits I’m far more likely to stick to them because I want those benefits that I mentioned previously. Think about exercise. Most people wouldn’t do it if they didn’t know they could look good from doing it. While it’s not always as simple as “just showing up” it does help to know that doing A will lead to B. It sounds mundane but it can make the more difficult days where you incorporate these habits just a little easier.
2. Don’t Skip A Day, If You Do, Don’t You Dare Skip Two
This has to be one of the most difficult tips I have to offer but I also think it may very well be the most important. I’ve spent a fair amount of my academic career learning about change, behavior, education and one of the overarching themes that comes up time and time again is the fact that the more often you do something the easier it becomes. Not just in a physical motion type of way but also psychologically as well and emotionally. I’ve been “spinning” (Riding a stationary bike) for well over a year now and It’s not something I even consider an option…
