While I refer to the internal combustion engine as a piece of automotive technology, I want to paint a very clear picture for every reading this: Fuel hungry vehicles will die. That’s a fact. While you might have a high-end performance vehicle (EV or otherwise) that vehicle is going to have fuel efficiency ratings similar to a Prius today if not better. So, with that out of the way, let’s look at how the internal combustion engine could potentially be saved over the coming years.

Sustainable Fuels

The world will need eco-friendly biofuels and other alternatives for modes of transportation and energy demands such as airplanes or as a backup for when we’re not able to produce energy through renewable means (Wind or solar) but potentially just as importantly, we’ll also need these fuels for our cars as well. By moving our normal modes of transportation over to run on sustainable fuels we’ll be able to continue to use our beautiful sounding internal combustion engine without causing significant harm to our environment. Along with the drastic reduction in emissions that sustainable fuels will offer there is also a real potential for these sustainable fuels to also improve the efficiency of our engines as well. While ethanol based fuels do not offer the same energy density as ordinary fossil fuel based petroleum, they do…
