3 Things I Would Tell My 18 Year Old Self
I long for the days of my teenage youth. Things were simple back then, I had fun all the time and my responsibilities were minimal. Now I work a full time job, I go to school online and I have financial responsibilities all over the place. Not that I don’t enjoy my life, but I do miss my youth from time to time. While I wouldn’t change a whole lot from those years, here are three things that I would of liked to hear from my future self, back then.
Be Yourself
Back in high school and even my early years of college I felt a strong need to impress people. Not only did I spend a lot of time trying to be a type of person that I wasn’t, I also tried pushing away the things that I actually enjoyed. I stopped talking about anime, I got away from video games and movies. I convinced myself that “These aren’t cool”. It’s such a shame too because I now acknowledge that a lot of my development as a person has come from these very things! It’s not easy being the odd duck out in your group of friends, but if the people you consider friends have an issue with who you really are, you should probably find new friends.
