It’s Ok To Change Your Mind

Realistically I probably should have learned this one while I was completing my undergraduate work, but I don’t think it really clicked until I changed degree programs a few semesters into my masters. I changed majors twice in undergraduate school and once in graduate school. Both resulted in a far happier version of myself. The reason I think it’s so important to be ok with being open to changing your mind is simply because we don’t always have the answers we think we should at any given moment throughout life. Giving yourself the option to change your goals and overall life direction should be encouraged, I know that if I stuck with my original trajectory to get an engineering degree I would be far less happy, and I doubt I would’ve gone on to enter into a doctoral program this year. Just because you made a commitment, doesn’t ALWAYS mean you have to stick with it.

Imposter Syndrome Is Normal

Once you realize that everyone feels a sense of imposter syndrome in most situations, the sooner you realize that it’s completely normal.
