3 Takeaways From The 2022 Formula 1 British Grand Prix
Thinking back to last year at Silverstone had me shaking in my boots for this race (admittedly I was only wearing socks at the time). Of course with Silverstone being the home race not just for my favorite team Mercedes but also my two favorite drivers (Lewis Hamilton and George Russell) I knew that they were going to bring their absolute A game to this race track, and while there was quite some upsets, I think overall this was yet again one of the greatest races of the 2022 season calendar! So before I spoil all the fun my introduction section let’s talk about my three highlights from the race!
First Lap Trouble
In the opening seconds of the race on Sunday an incident occurred involving Zhou Guanyu, George Russell and Pierre Gasley. Gasley pressured both Zhou and Russell, forcing Russell to make contact with Zhou. This resulted in Zhou’s car flipping upside down and flipping in such a way that he was caught out between the Tecpro barriers and the catch fence directly in front of the live audience, Russell sustained damage as well but he remained flat. Pierre was able to keep going with only minor contact and as a result of all this chaos Alex Albon’s William’s got hit from behind by Sebastian Vettell who simply couldn’t see all the chaos ensuing in the front.
