3 Takeaways From The 2022 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The street circuit at Baku is potentially one of my favorites to watch, not only does it feature a good mix of high speed and low speed sections but there is just some cool architecture surrounding the track! While there was a lot of action going on through the weekend, we’re all here to talk about the race that took place on Sunday, so let’s go over my top 3 takeaways from the 2022 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix!

Ferrari Failures

Not only did Carlos Sainz feature a hydraulic issue that ultimately took him out of the race, but Charles Leclerc was also struck by reliability issues when it came down to the power unit. Neither car was able to finish the race and left Ferrari with zero points scored and a major blow to their bid for the championship this year. On top of the Ferrari failures, Zhou Guanyu’s Ferrari powered Alfa Romeo as well as Kevin Magnussen’s Ferrari powered Haas were both taken out of the race. All this points to major issues in the Ferrari power units. As for Charles, this had to hurt a lot. For a driver that has been doing everything nearly to perfection to be hampered by both reliability and strategic issues is a major blow to his confidence and overall trust in his team.
