3 Reasons Touchscreen Laptops Are The Future

I made an article not too long about how I’ll never buy a desktop computer again, I mentioned how laptops are just too good these days. Whether you’re gaming or video editing, there is a laptop that will meet your needs, all while allowing you to be portable. Now I want to talk about why touchscreen laptops are the future, even if they have their fair share of criticisms.

Operating System’s Built For Touch

Looking back over the years it’s clear to see that a lot of operating systems weren’t really built for touchscreens, even with Windows 11 out and about in the world, it’s clear to see that the foundations of the operating system were built for a mouse and keyboard. That being said, the times are changing, with Android and iOS getting ever closer to replacing more conventional computing solutions, it’s really only a matter of time before Apple and Microsoft succumb to thoroughly baking in touch friendly UI elements into their standard operating systems. This will certainly take time; Microsoft has been working on making Windows touch friendly all the way back when Windows 8 released and even before that with Windows Phone. Meanwhile Apple is inching closer to the perfect touch UI with iOS, but has failed to implemented touchscreens in Mac OS. Clearly neither is quite there yet but when you start to realize that mobile platforms are progressively becoming more similiar to a desktop OS, you may soon realize that we’re closer to the touchscreen convergence than originally thought.

Economies Of Scale

There are now billions of smartphones in the hands of users across the world. With that clear advantage for smartphones, it’s safe to say that manufacturers have gotten very familiar with the development and implementation of touch screen technology across their product line up. That being said, it’s certainly cheaper than ever to implement a touch screen device these days. Not only have screens gotten more vibrant and detailed with all sorts of high definition panels available on the market but new technologies like LED and high refresh have only been becoming more and more common place.
