What exactly is Solarpunk and why does it even matter?

Solarpunk is an interesting idea and or movement. I’m sure many of us are familiar with other derivatives of the “punks” from Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Atompunk and possibly the most famous, Cyberpunk. Sorry punk rock, this isn’t quite your scene. All four of these versions focus on certain technological advances and how they shaped their respective societies. Obviously steam, diesel and nuclear power define the first three and Cyberpunk is built around the cyberspace or digital technology. So where does that leave Solarpunk? Well, it relies on the power of the sun in a generally sustainable society. However, it’s far from being as popular as the others, and today, I want to talk why SolarPunk matters more than ever in the world right now.

Global Health

Now I could start off this section by talking about COVID-19 but I’m sure everyone has already heard enough about that over what feels like the last decade. So I’m gonna spend both my time and your time discussing something a little different. Look around your neighborhood, you’ll see cars driving by, whether it’s a corvette or a prius, these things are more than likely exhausting toxic fumes that have a direct impact on our health.
