3 Reasons I Haven’t Bought An Electric Car Yet

As much as I write about EV’s within this area of the internet, I don’t actually own one. Instead, I find myself still driving my Ford Focus RS with its horrible gas mileage and plethora of emissions. So, in this article I want to talk about why I haven’t made the switch yet, so let’s get started!
Charging
Currently, I don’t own a home and while I do expect that to change within the next five years, I can’t bring myself to go out of my way every time I want to top off my vehicle. Even my current town only has one single Tesla charging spot which I suppose is a start but it’s at a literal resort, so I’m not super interested in spending my time there. This is why I write about charging infrastructure and how that will ultimately change the game when it comes to EV adoption, because it is literally halting my own adoption of EVs. In order to curb my own personal emissions and reliance on fuel I could very realistically see myself upgrading to a hybrid power train within the next two or three years, but a complete EV adoption will need a lot of changes within the realm of charging spots.
Ford
I love Ford, I’ve written about them numerous times. To get just a small taste as to why I love Ford so much just know that my Focus RS comes equipped with a literal Drift Mode within the software, yeah. Moving on, I think what Ford is doing with their EV lineup is both bold and overall, pretty good. With the F-150 Lightning set to take center stage this year and the Mach-e continuing to sell like hotcakes, I don’t think it will take Ford very long to electrify their entire lineup of cars. That being said, I really want a small hatchback in the United States or at the very least a full electrified Mustang coupe. I understand that the Mach-e is basically a slightly larger hatchback since it is ultimately considered a crossover, but I thoroughly enjoy smaller vehicles. I believe Ford has an opportunity with their electrification plans to develop a new small car for their United States audience, while I would obviously prefer to get an electrified Focus, I ultimately would not be opposed to a brand-new Fiesta, Puma or even an Escort. Come on Ford, make it happen!
