It’s not very common that people actually enjoy working the graveyard shift. But in my case after graduating college I was fairly excited to work night shift. While there are very clear downsides to go along with working this shift I want to point out a few upsides first!

Kept Me Out Of Trouble

Immediately after graduating college I was still very much so interested in going out every weekend and hanging out with friends whenever possible. Which to be fair, isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can be if it’s not taken in moderation. So once I started working 3rd shift that allowed me to settle into a more intentional routine. I certainly stopped drinking the way that I used to since I was far too tired to go out most of the time. I just generally took life at a far slower pace and I think that’s what I needed at the time. I openly admit that I had an alcohol problem the moment I turned 21 in college. As a I slowed down I found joy in a lot of other things, whether that was in my relationships with important people or maybe just reading books and playing video games. 3rd shift, didn’t force me to stay home, instead it made me want to stay home more often, and that’s something that I’m grateful for during that period of my life.

The elements compose a magnum opus. My modus operandi is amalgam.
